Why Accumulator Betting Matters

Accumulators (or "accas") combine multiple selections into a single bet. The odds multiply together, creating potentially massive returns from small stakes. A 5-fold acca at average odds of 2.00 per leg gives combined odds of 32.00 — turning a £10 stake into £320.

However, every selection must win for the acca to pay out (unless you use each-way). Understanding void selections, Rule 4 deductions, and dead heats is crucial. Our calculator handles all these scenarios so you know exactly what your potential returns are before placing the bet.

Each-way accumulators are particularly popular in horse racing, where the place part of the bet can still return a profit even if not all selections win outright.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if one leg of my acca is void?
If a selection is voided (e.g. the event is postponed), that leg is removed from the accumulator and the odds recalculate without it. Your bet continues with the remaining selections.
What is a Rule 4 deduction?
Rule 4 applies when a runner withdraws from a horse or greyhound race after betting has started. The remaining odds are reduced according to the withdrawn runner's price, ranging from 5p to 90p in the pound.
How are each-way accumulators calculated?
An each-way accumulator is two separate bets: a win acca and a place acca. The win part uses full odds, while the place part uses a fraction of the odds (e.g. 1/4 or 1/5). Both parts must have the same stake, so your total stake doubles.
What is a dead heat in accumulator betting?
A dead heat occurs when two or more selections finish in exactly the same position. In this case, your returns for that leg are divided by the number of dead-heaters. The rest of the acca continues as normal.
What is the maximum number of selections in an accumulator?
Most bookmakers allow up to 20 selections in an accumulator, though some may allow more. Our calculator supports up to 20 legs. Keep in mind that the more legs you add, the less likely the bet is to win.
